Tampa Bay Defenders LE M/C Chapter
Support the Naples Chapter in their Hugh May Poker Run
November 3, 2007

Saturday Morning started early for members of the Lee County, Charlotte County and Tampa Bay Chapters of the Defenders LE M/C. While our southern brothers set up and prepared for their annual Hugh Mays Poker Run, riders from Tampa Bay rumbled through the Florida countryside on their way south to help out.

It was a cool morning when the Tampa Bay riders began their pre-dawn trek to Naples. Traffic was light and we had a safe ride to Charlotte where we met our brothers and sisters from that chapter for a breakfast at the local Cracker Barrel. It was a short ride from there to the Naples Harley Davidson dealership where we met with out Naples Chapter and registered for the Poker Run.

Special thanks go out to Brother Slayer for escorting his out of town visitors safely to each of the poker run stops. Our first stop was way out in the Glades. Many of us began to wonder if we were on our way to Broward County. Finally we arrived at the Iron Rhino where we drew a card. From there we rode to Marco Island and Porkys Last Stand.

On the way to Porkys Ice began experiencing problems with his bike. Every time he hit the brakes his horn would sound. You really should take better care of that machine Ice. We're thinking about changing his road name from Ice to Admiral Hornblower.

Along the way we were treated to a few of the local bad drivers. One SUV crowded Brother Snake in a crowded area. Snake attempted to execute a PIT maneuver on the culprit, but found out it is not nearly as easy on two wheels as it is on four.

Brothers Hollywood and Shadow repaired Ice's motorcycle for him while we were at Porkys. Soon we were back on the road headed to the Pickled Parrot. It was a great spot on the waterfront. It was there I saw what I thought might be Brother Paladin's boat. Paladin is a retired Marine and the boat just seemed right. It had the right name anyway.

Our last stop before returning the the Naples Harley Davidson was the Saltwater Cowboy. They had a band playing and the parking lot was packed with bikes. We had one last cold drink there and drew our last cards. Then returned to the Harley Davidson dealership.

Everyone had a great time. It was good to see so many brothers and sisters at the event.

Brother Shamrock contributed many of the photos for this event.
