Major Barnhardt was a decorated veteran of both the Korean War and
Vietnam. It was obvious in talking with his son and grandchildren that
the gentleman had played an important part in their lives. Everyone
spoke highly of him and we all felt the loss of someone who had been a
great influence on his family.
Mr. Barnhardt was a decorated
veteran and patriot. We are grateful for his service and were honored
to be invited to show our respects by the family. His service to his
country is appreciated by all. |

After the family arrived and went inside for the services the flag line
relaxed. It was good seeing our friends at the Hillsborough Sheriff's
Department again. They always provide a safe and very professional
escort when they honor these veterans. They guided us all safely to the
cemetery. As we arrived at Major Barnhardt's final destination a light
rain began to fall. Reminding us of tears from heaven and life
sustaining rebirth. It was a very special moment as we rode into the
cemetery and saw the rugged cross standing solitary nearby.

The friends and family of Mr. Barnhardt are in our hearts and prayers
tonight. It is difficult to loose a loved one regardless of the time of
year. But we understand how much more difficult it is during the season
of joy. We all appreciate Richard's service to his country and are very
glad to see that he lived a long and productive life after he retired
from the Army. Rest in peace Major Barnhardt, and job well done.
