Support the Florida Patriot Guard to Honor
PFC Cody Grater

It Takes A Special Kind of Man to be a Paratrooper
Specialist Cody Grater was one of those men. This courageous young soldier made the ultimate sacrifice for what he believed in. For his bravery and service we are all in his debt. Specialist Grater was twenty years old and from Spring Hill, Florida. He was the second warrior Hernando County has lost in the War in Iraq defending his country. He was slain in a rocket propelled grenade attack outside Baghdad. Specialist Grater was half way through his fourteen month combat tour.
Specialist Grater was laid to rest with full military honors. He won the Bronze Star Medal with a V device for valor and the Purple Heart. He planned to re-enlist to work on Black Hawk Helicopters.  Bikers from across the state came to bid Specialist Grater farewell. The Florida Patriot Guard, the National Patriot Guard Riders, The Defenders LE M/C, American Legion Riders and numerous Motorcycle Clubs were present to show their respect and comfort the family.
Veterans from many conflicts past and present were in the ranks of the bikers present. They stood at attention in the blistering Florida sun and rendered the hand salute as his body passed through the cordon of flags. Civilians, friends and caring riders stood in solemn silence as taps played and a twenty gun salute bid Specialist Cody Grater farewell.
There is a special place in heaven for warriors. Cody Grater now is in the presence of those fallen heroes of the past who have defended our way of life and made American the country it is today. Thank you Specialist Grater,  stand down soldier, your duty is done, you have served your nation with great honor and dignity.
