Enforcement Officer
Sergeant
Ron Harrison
In the early morning of Wednesday, August 15,
2007 Sergeant Ron Harrison was gunned down by a coward hiding under the
cover of darkness. Sergeant Harrison died performing his duties as a
DUI Team Leader with the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Department. He
was a man who gave much to his community. Sergeant Harrison served the
Hillsborough community for 27 years. He was a Little League coach, a
Temple Terrace football coach and
active in many youth programs. He was struck down by an angry young
thug
with a lengthy criminal past. A killer who had terrorized his neighbors
for years.
Sergeant Harrison was a father of
four. Three daughters, a son and three grandchildren. He was a solid
family man who was looked up to and admired by his friends and
neighbors.
His murderer was killed in a stand
off with the Hillsborough County SWAT Team within a few hours of the
killing. The criminal fired many shots at the Police Officers who
surrounded him at his home where he lived with his mother.
Tuesday, August 20, 2007 members
of the Law Enforcement community, friends and neighbors joined the
Harrison family as they mourned the death of Sergeant Harrison. His
passing is felt by everyone who knew him. Sergeant Harrison will be
remembered for all that he did to make the world we live in a better
place. Rest In Peace Ron Harrison. 10-7.
